Getting there is half the fun!

I promised you another photography tip today, but I wanted to illustrate it and couldn't find a good example so I will save it for another day.

This afternoon we went to the Fort Worth Arts Goggle, an event held twice a year, fall and spring, that has grown exponentially over the last few years. It now is held in several different areas of the "near south side" of Fort Worth.  It was a beautiful day, a little warmer than I would have liked, but a pretty nice breeze saved it.  Now, what I REALLY wanted to do was to take pictures of all the "types" of people we saw today.  I had to close my mouth several times!  However, Fort Worth is a small town and had I posted those pictures, someone would have known them or been related to them and taken offense!

So, another thing that stood out to me (and I am not sure it would have had I not just been amazed by all the bikes we saw in Amsterdam) is that a street known for its restaurants near us has installed permanent bike racks.  AND people are using them.

So many bikes in fact that you can't see the racks!
And there weren't actually enough racks for all the bikes.
Out of hundreds of people up and down Magnolia today, some walked from their homes, some rode bikes and some drove their cars.  And some of those cars really brought them in style as you can see in the pictures below.

Then there were the lucky ones who not only did not have to expend their own energy by biking or walking, but gasoline prices were the furthest thing from their minds!

And then some people were energy efficient but paid someone else to expend the energy.  I would have preferred to see the art this way myself!

And finally, there was at least one fellow that I think wasn't there to see the art at all.  He was just having fun being out and about in all the beautiful sunshine in a fun and quirky sort of way!  So, tell me.  What would have been your preferred mode of transportation today?

Oh, and the art was really great, some paintings, photography, handmade jewelry, quilts, and glass blowing demonstrations.  Many of the places exhibiting the arts were offering complimentary wine and snacks and there were lots of food trucks up and down the streets in addition to the restaurants.  Several of the larger venues had live bands.  There were four bands we listened to at various points, but the last one was the best.  It was a New Orleans  style jazz band and they knocked it out of the park singing and playing "The Thrill is Gone" and several other favorites.  We listened to them until the sky grew dark and it was time to close the place down.  I hope your day was equally wonderful and you did something fun!
